- We require at least 5 mbps UPLOAD (not download) speed, per camera, at the outdoor location of the camera. Google search ‘internet speed test’ and while on wifi, standing where you want the camera, and then run the test. Look at your upload speed, not the download speed.
- A wifi extender, upgraded router, or both will probably be needed. Cheap, stock routers from internet providers are simply not enough to keep up with demands of video products on the market. Note: Extenders do not boost your speed, it only extends the reach of your existing speed. We sell and install a basic extender for $40. If you buy an upgraded router, that would need to be installed, up and running fully, before our installation.
- The cameras are wifi connected, but power will still need to be available near the camera location.
- If the location isn’t already prewired with a power plug for a camera (on newer homes this becoming more common), we can attempt a low voltage wire run ($40 per run) to get to power, if accessible. An electrician may be needed to install a plug if we can’t get to it with a low voltage wire run.
