Getting Started

  • Can you monitor my existing system?
We can take over the most popular systems found in homes today- the DSC 1616, or the Honeywell Vista 15 or 20. Most of the time, all we have to add is our cellular wireless transmitter to connect you with our monitoring station, for a one-time cost of $89. If you have something different than the compatible models listed above, we can typically update it for little to no charge.
  • How much does it cost to get started?
For homes that already have an existing alarm system, typically just $89 for our wireless transmitter, plus your first month of alarm monitoring. If you don’t have an existing system, new installations from scratch start at $399. No matter what, there are no contracts!
  • Can you install a new system from scratch?
Yes! We also do full installations from standard alarm systems, all the way to full smart home automation and camera systems.
  • Do you install cameras?
Yes! We install indoor, outdoor, and doorbell cameras that are supplied by Smith Thompson, and supported through alarm.com’s app.
  • Can you use my Ring, Nest, or Arlo cameras?
Those brands don’t allow alarm.com to integrate with them, so we will have to install Smith Thompson cameras that are supported by alarm.com.

Pricing & Plans

  • What is the difference between your 3 monitoring plans?
Plan 1 – $16.95 per month (same rate we’ve had since 1978), is for someone who wants 24-hour monitoring of a standard alarm system like a DSC 1616 or Honeywell Vista 15. Equipment starts at $89. No contract. Plan 2 – $24.95 per month, is everything in Plan 1, plus remote arm/disarm control with a smartphone app. Equipment starts at $89. No contract. Plan 3 – $29.95 per month, is for someone who wants the most secure encryption, and smart home capability. 7” touchscreen keypad, full app control, built-in camera, 24 bit AES encryption, bluetooth arming and disarming, expandable with cameras, z wave lights, locks, garage control, and more. All from a single app. Equipment starts at $449. No contract.
  • What is the $89 for?
It’s for our cellular wireless transmitter that connects your alarm system to our 24-hour monitoring center.
  • What other fees are there to start service?
We do not charge an activation fee! It’s just a matter of what equipment you’d like to add, and which monthly plan.
  • Is there any contract required?
Never. Since 1978 we’ve never had to force our customers to stay with us! When you provide great service, customers stay because they want to, not because they have to. That’s the way it’s supposed to work, right?

Troubleshooting

  • I have a yellow trouble light/triangle on my keypad. What does that mean?
The yellow triangle/trouble light is a general indication that there is a problem with the system. Most of the time it’s an easy fix. Please give us a call when you are in front of your keypad, and we’ll be glad to help. Tech support is open from 8-6 Mon-Fri and 9-6 on Saturday.
  • How do I turn off my chimes?
To toggle the chimes on and off: For a Honeywell system: type in your 4-digit primary alarm code and 9. For a DSC system: type * then 4, or hold the chime button on the right for 3 seconds. Feel free to give us a call and we’ll be glad to help! Tech support is open from 8-6 Mon-Fri, and 9-6 on Saturday.
  • What’s the easiest way to trouble shoot an open zone that shouldn’t be showing open?
Try opening and closing the door/windows really good, a few times. Sometimes the sensor is just misaligned or the door/window isn’t fully closed. If it’s a wireless sensor, replacing the battery is also recommended. Feel free to give us a call and we’ll be glad to help! Tech support is open from 8-6 Mon-Fri, and 9-6 on Saturday.
  • How do I arm the system so that my pets won’t set it off?
You’ll want to arm in the stay mode because that will automatically bypass the motion detectors. The exit time does not beep like away mode does, but the system will still give you 45-90 seconds to leave depending on your settings. Feel free to give us a call and we’ll be glad to help! Tech support is open from 8-6 Mon-Fri, and 9-6 on Saturday
  • I need to change the time on my keypad, how can I do that?
It may be best to call us because it’s a little tricky, but here is the sequence if you’d like to try it yourself. First, note what the current time is in 24-hour clock format (1pm would be 1300 hours for example). On the keypad, press *, then press 6, then type in your 4-digit primary alarm code. It should then show the word program or a small red hand over a keypad. Then press 1. Next, enter the time in 24-hour clock. Then type in the date MM/DD/YY then press #. It will take 5 seconds to show on the screen. For example, here is the entire number sequence for 1pm on the date of 7/28/20: *, 6, (your master code), 1, 1300 072820, #
